Can I Get a Work Permit in Thailand Without a Non-B Visa?

Hi,

I have signed a contatct this week. 

Since is not possible to get out of the country, I can't have a Non B visa.

Should they give me a work permit anyway?

If you have a tourist visa that is still valid for at least a month, you can convert it to a 3 month NonB.

I'd ask that question after more information arrives about visas. As of right now, the government is not issuing visas. If you're on amnesty, hold on.

the borders closed to foreigners getting in on March 26th, IF someone had a tourist visa they'd be stamped in until May 24 So NO ONE is still on a valid stamp from a tourist visa entry at this point. :O

In reality you are probably correct. Unless they did go to immigration and got an extension. I did in May.

But by now a moot point.

the entry requirements are posted on MANY f/b pages related to thailand

You APPLY for permission at the thai consulate in your country, you have 100k USD insurance specifically for covid-19, you have a fit to fly paper from a doctor, you have a negative covid-19 test, you have booked a 14 day stay at one of the approve 13 Alternative State Quarantine facilities and you get the certificate of entry from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

One question I still have though, could You be so kind please?

In this post the person is already in Thailand and has to leave to get Visa and come back, at the moment the only country one can go to is the home country, isn’t it?

at this time I don't know a single person "leaving thailand to go get a visa" :O

I wouldn't recommend it to ANYONE right now. Sit tight take the amnesty and see what the government says to do when it runs out.

Most thai consulates aren't even open (or if they are they are only issuing visas to people who have started the process to request to get back in).

Going to your home country is no guarantee that you're gonna get a visa to thailand.
