Hi. I and my friend have applied for a teaching job in Thailand. My friend who is currently in Thailand with the Amnesty told me that the school could not change the visa to non-b inside the country after contacting the immigration and was suggested to go to Laos. Anyone have the same experience with this? I have already checked the info from the website of the Embassy in Laos' capital and found the announcement about the still-closure border until the end of August, but I'm not sure if the border is opened for regular persons just to apply the Thai visa during this covid time.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the difficulty of converting an Amnesty status to a Non-B visa inside Thailand, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Current policies prevent this conversion within the country, and individuals are advised to travel to Laos for visa applications, although border closures may affect this process.
I was told that a lot of foreigners with Amnesty apply for various jobs including teaching as they hope to have a new visa and stay longer. But a lot of them dont know that the visa cant be changed inside the country.

I don't like to spread rumors and give people false hope,
i stay to the facts and announced rules and regulations,
I used to work in Thailand before I still remember that I couldnt change the tourist visa to non-b as well, I applied in Laos. So foreigners still cant across to Laos at the bridge at the moment right?
Option: Go back to country of origin, (take all documents needed to apply for Non Immigrant B visa with him), register at the Thai Embassy and follow the rules and instructions to go back into Thailand, This can take a longer time than a few weeks,
