Hi there…just a couple of questions(may seem obvious but l’m a newbie)…l’m from Australia and can l enter Thailand by ‘visa on arrival’ if staying for just one month(with proof of exiting plane ticket)or do l have to obtain a visa from Thai embassy here before leaving Australia…also l assume l would need proof of health insurance for the duration of my stay…thankyou in advance…

Aussie if you only staying a month you will 45 days visa exempt bring plenty of cash but don't pay to much for gash enjoy

Australians can't buy a visa on arrival but they can enter Thailand free of charge 'visa exempt'. This currently gives them 45 days and can easily be extended by another 30 days for 1,900 baht. Alternatively they can buy a visa from a Thai Embassy/Consulate in Australia which gives them 60 days, also extendable.

No insurance required.

No need to apply for a visa you will stamped in visa exempt as Stuart noted.

Insurance not compulsory though recommended, obtain an international driving permit at home if you intend to drive or ride.

Be very careful on motorbikes, have a bloody good time👍

I thought you were allowed to drive in Thailand for up to 90 days with your countries? I've driven all over Thailand with a US driver's license, been through police checkpoints. Never had a problem?

if something happens, your insurance might not cover anything unless you have a valid International Drivers License. Even if you have a license back home.

You definitely have not been thru a Police Checkpoint in Chiang Mai -- guaranteed a Ticket if you don't have a Thai DL or IDP.
