Yes you only need an onward ticket out of Thailand. What you do after that your airline won’t care about.
Gethin *******
If you have any problems it will be with your airline when you check in.

I would book your ticket to your next country of travel before you leave UK then all travel after you can book to suit yourselves.

The multi entry re-entry is separate and is 3800baht.

Easier to do it at the same time as extension though otherwise you have to go back to immigration or do it at the airport when you leave.

Every time you re-enter you will be stamped in until your extension expiry date.

Far easier to get a retirement non-o visa compared to a marriage one.

The extensions every 12 months are easier too.
Gethin *******
Why would you want to get a re-entry permit.

If you leave and come back you get another 60 day visa exempt.

You have to report every 90 days you are consecutively in Thailand for as long as you are on a retirement extension.

No problem at immigration in Thailand.

Any problems that may arise will be with your airline when you check in at US airport.
