thanks for the reply. So I will still have to transfer 800k for the extension? The proof of funds in my UK account doesn’t go towards that for the first application?
I’ve researched this extensively and there are some important points to consider before buying.
1. Disclose everything! Insurers here hate to pay out even more that those in western countries.
2. Their understanding and attitude towards certain pre-existing conditions is basic. They excessively load for conditions that don’t warrant it, like mild asthma.
3. At the quoting stage, you will be given a basic cover premium and when you disclose pre-existing conditions, the premium obviously increases. DON’T assume you are now covered for those pre-existing conditions because of the higher premium, you WILL NOT be.
4. Ask about increase caps on your renewal premium or even better a policy that doesn’t increase if zero claims are made.
5. Read any policy you receive VERY CAREFULLY before you agree to take out the policy.
6. Go direct to the insurer for a quote, I’ve received the same cover from agents with inflated prices. Yes they have to make their cut but an extra

rd??
7. Be aware of some companies that offer very low starting premiums and claim to have offices in Europe. DO YOUR RESEARCH. If it’s too good to be true, it definitely is.
8. DON’T listen to any FB recommendations unless that person has made a claim from their insurers, received good customer service AND been paid out. YOU NEVER KNOW HOW GOOD AN INSURER IS, UNTIL ITS TIME TO CLAIM.
9. Read their reviews!
10. Look into whether you can get cover internationally from a provider in your own country. It will be more expensive but most likely, less headaches.
I welcome anyone to provide proven stories of having great service and being paid out promptly without any problems from their insurer. AGENTS NEED NOT ANSWER.
