Sounds like he's doing border hops and extensions.

Telling the truth (more or less), but still a red flag as far as the meow meow is concerned. If hes relying on serial visa-exemptions, its only a matter of time before he gets pulled aside at the airport and told "Last Time", or even denied entry.

Thus leaving the kitten alone again with no carer.

Yep. Your boss just seems determined to show even more definitively why she'd be an awful, toxic person to work for, by outright lying to you like that and trying to menace you. She knows damn well that the initial visa cannot be cancelled, only the extension. If she says otherwise (that she honestly thought otherwise) I'll call her a liar to her face. Shes experienced in the field of employing foreigners, theres no way she doesnt know.

The only response she deserves is to be told to shut the fuck up & go play on a busy road.

Preferably a *Thai* road.

As Shaughn said, whilst there is no *official* 6-month rule, as in, no stated, publicly-viewable one, each immigration department at each entry point will have its own internal rules and guidance issued to trainees.

It sounds like DMK *may* have an internal rule or more like an internal *guidance* (not a Thai law) that over 6 months here on tourist stays should attract more scrutiny.

There is indeed no six-month rule. Some people get questioned after just two entries, others sail through again and again for over a year with no problems.

However, if you've already been here six months on short-term stays, you're in the general area where there is an increased likelihood of being summoned to the office in the back and questioned as to what you're doing here.

As John Stanners said, you can still get questioned or denied entry at the airport or land border even with a tourist visa (the former happened to me before). While there is indeed no limit on air-entry visa-exemptions, if you've got a history of just going out and back, repeatedly, then the likelihood of being questioned or denied entry goes up. It's all up to the imm officer.

All you can really do is have the three proofs mentioned with you. If you're applying in KL, you need to submit the three proofs at the embassy to get the visa in the first place anyway.

There was a guy in this group I remember who posted a pic of hus Elite visa despite previously having an overstay, I remember?

Though I know technically you can't - maybe that guy just got lucky, had a sympathetic imm official, or even did some palm-greasing.

There is. Circa 4km from the airport. Google Maps has it.

What the others said.

Strange that your school couldnt confirm or deny it. A re-entry permit has always been a re-entry permit, whether on intitial visa or extension.

The same airport that I got pulled aside and questioned coming in on a tourist visa after just one border bounce and extension previously.

There is little rhyme or reason to why some people sail through again and again, and others get questioned after their 2nd-3rd entry/third month here.

Some people, like yourself, get very lucky. But in general, the more time you're here on tourist visas & waivers, the higher the likelihood gets that they'll pull you back to the office and question you.

In theory, you can both get and use back-to-back tourist visas for years on end. There is no official limit, although many consulates have a one-and-done policy.

However, having a visa doesn't guarantee entry, and it will eventually get to the point where immigration officers will summon you to the back room and question whether you are a genuine tourist, having been here 6, 9, or more months on consecutive tourist visas.

It'll be up to the immigration officer you're in front of, but if you try to come in on another tourist visa or visa exemption straight after (or not very long after) spending 9 months of the year here on a maxed-out tourist visa, you have a *high* likelihood of being pulled aside and asked what you're doing here, and whether you are actually a tourist.
