Approved - Sydney, Australia (Royal Thai Consulate General), soft power route.

Applied 7 Feb, approved 19 Feb.

Hi all, just wanted to share my experience and say thanks for all the tips in this group which assisted me when it came time to apply for my DTV.

I applied for the DTV in Sydney, with documentation from Discover Thai Nature. I knew at least one person had been approved in Sydney with these seminars, but I had been a bit anxious as I’d seen several people had been rejected with them in Cambodia and HCMC in recent weeks.

For my application I included:

- Recent passport photo and biodata page of passport

- Proof of current location: a recent phone bill and energy bill with my current address

- Financial evidence: I have two Australian bank accounts which each have more than the required 500,000 Baht. I attached six months of bank statements and proof of current balance reports dated the day of my application (felt like overkill as this came to 45 pages, but wanted to ensure they had everything on hand and didn’t need to request further proof. I merged the PDFs together and also attached a cover letter outlining my financial position)

- Proof of activity: I attached the registration and enrollment confirmation documents provided by Discover Thai Nature (which were emailed to me within minutes of booking with them).

I attached a cover letter to the beginning of those documents outlining my intention to attend the Discover Thai Nature seminars, why the seminars are of interest to me (they genuinely are, and I intend to attend in person as much as possible), why I am eager to spend time in Thailand (I’ve travelled there several times over 20 years so was able to specify what I love about the country), said I would not be seeking any form of local employment during my time there, and that I’m committed to adhering to local laws and cultural expectations.

There was no requirement to upload flight or accommodation bookings, but there is a section where they ask you to provide a flight number and address of your accommodation (I have these so provided the details).

For each section I merged PDF files and wasn’t required to compress them/reduce the size (which was somewhat surprising considering the length of my financial documents 😂).

Thanks again for the support of this group, I think the tip to include a cover letter is a good one and helps you to explain/give context to the documents provided, and enables you to personalise the application re: why you want to spend time in Thailand and why the activity in question is of interest.

Wishing everyone else all the best with your applications! If you’re applying in Sydney and have any questions, feel free to reach out.

I should also mention that I emailed the consulate a couple of months ago to ask if Thai language courses would qualify for soft power. The Sydney Consulate said they do.

I initially intended to go down that route and was in touch with a language course provider who was very helpful, but the course spanned over 7.5 months and I’m unsure if I will stay longer than six months this year. So I may do one of their (shorter) private tuition courses instead while I’m there.

Hello everyone,

I apologize if these questions have already been asked here.

I’m heading to Laos in 2 days to apply for the DTV Remote Worker visa, and I’ve been researching a lot since yesterday. I’d like to confirm a few points here if possible:

- Is it correct that the application is done online only?

- Whether applying from Laos or another neighboring country, are the required documents the same, or do they vary?

To summarize what I’ve understood about the required documents when applying from Laos, here’s what I have so far:

- Color photocopy of my passport

- Color photo (less than 6 months old)

- Employment contract

- Proof of salary for the last 6 months

- Employer certificate

Regarding the 500,000 THB financial evidence :

- Do they require bank statements for the last 3 months ?

- Can the amount be combined between a savings account and a current account (as long as they are both on the same account)?

About the "document indicating current location" :

- Would a color photo of my Laos entry stamp and, for example, an Agoda hotel receipt be sufficient?

Final question : Has anyone here recently applied from Laos and have any advice ? How long did it take for the process?

Thank you all so much in advance for your help!

Hello Folks,

Anyone know if you can use a Money Box (UK) Lifetime Savings (LISA) to show to 500K requirement? I am struggling to find an affirmative answer! I have more than the required amount.

Appreciate any inputs.

Cheers 👋

My DTV Visa Experience - EU Citizen applied from Malta via Athens, Greece

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share my journey of applying for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) as an EU citizen residing in Malta. I applied for the e-Visa through the Royal Thai Embassy in Athens, Greece, and here’s how it went:

Application Date: December 12, 2024

Documents Submitted:

* Biodata page of my Passport in PDF format.

* Passport Size Photo (taken within the last 6 months as required).

* Document indicating current location - I attached my Maltese residence permit, both front and back on one page.

* Financial evidence: A minimum of 500,000 THB. I transferred the necessary amount last month via Revolut, combining USD and EU accounts. My bank statement from December 1 to December 12 was submitted, no expenses were shown for those dates.

* Employment contract: My new contract from October was signed electronically and clearly states I can work "remotely from any location of their choice".

Process:

After submitting all documents on December 12, I kept checking the status which stayed at "processing document check" until today, December 20, 2024. Finally, I received an email stating my visa has been APPROVED! The best part? No follow-up documents were needed or requested by the embassy.

Tips:

* Make sure your financial documents clearly show that you have the required amount without any discrepancies.

* If you're using an electronic contract, ensure it’s clear and legible, and reflects remote work flexibility.

Good luck to everyone applying! Here's to new adventures in Thailand. Merry Christmas to all! 🎄

Feel free to ask if you have any questions or need further details 🙏

DTV Approved. HCMC (Remote worker category).

Consulate: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Submitted Friday 10:30am

Picked up Tuesday 13:30

I over submitted documents. My cover letter already stated I was providing tax documentation so I had to hand it in. But it wasn’t required. I work through my LTD company incorporated in England

.Application form

• Personal bank statement of the last 6 months as financial evidence showing an amount greater than 500,000 THB

• Business bank account statement showing recent payment from latest client (also over 500,000 THB)

• Invoices for my latest client

• Current contract with a client - signed

• Ltd incorporation documents

My personal tax return for the last 2 years

My company's corporation tax documentation for the last 2 years

• My CV

• A portfolio showcasing my recent projects.

• My lease in Bangkok as proof of location

It looked like they were mostly interested in the bank statement. And my educated guess is anything to support your employment status is important too.
