At what point do you need to twitch from a extension of stay based on being over 50 to a being marriage to a thai extension. When It come to the renewal date or as soon as the exchange rate drops below the level when you can no longer transfer 65000 each month.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can choose not to switch from an extension of stay based on age (over 50) to a marriage-based extension. However, marriage extensions are generally considered less cumbersome. Your current extension remains valid until the expiry date stamped in your passport. If you decide to switch, you can apply for a new extension based on marriage at most immigration offices, starting 30 days before the current extension's expiry date.

You don't NEED to switch at all. Non O based on marriage is less cumbersome though.

Your Extension of Stay stays valid until the permitted up to date stamped in your passport. If you like to switch to another reason you can just wait and apply at most offices between 30 days and the last permitted up to date in the passport for a new Extension of Stay based on another reason.
