I am Canadian,63 years old, will go to Thailand on 60 days tourist visa. When in Thailand will convert tourist visa into non O retirement visa.I will use affidavit of income from Canadian consulate in Bangkok to prove my finances.
When do I need to show this affidavit?
1) when applying for my first non O visa
2) my first extension of non O visa (90 days after receiving non O visa))
3) when applying AND than when extending my first non O visa.
If it is #3, timing of getting affidavit will be very important since affidavit from Canadian consulate is valid for only 90 days.
( I contacted them) Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian expat planning to convert a 60-day tourist visa to a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand is seeking clarity on when to present an affidavit of income from the Canadian consulate. The consensus is that the affidavit should be shown both when applying for the initial Non-O visa and again when applying for the subsequent yearly extension, as it is valid for 6 months. This means the timing of obtaining the affidavit is crucial to ensure it remains valid for both parts of the process.

you will show this affidavit when you apply for the initial 90 day Non-O visa
AND (45-60 days later)
you will show it again when you apply for the year extension

Some offices will copy your original embassy affidavit and stamp it so you can use that copy when you apply for the year extension,
BUT
some do not, meaning you get one to apply for the Non-O visa and then have to get another one to apply for the yearly extension (no issue getting them bothat the same time)
