I’ve been on a normal o visa based on marriage .  

I returned to Thailand in July from UK   and received a stamp

In my passport that admits me till the 17th October .    I will go with my wife to do my normal annual renewal/extension this month .   I believe you can’t go to Chaeng Wattana more than 30 days before  the 17th October to get the initial 30 days and then return on the 17th October to get the year added ( 17th is a Saturday though .   Has anybody left it to much later to get the initial 30 day stamp whilst they consider the full year ?

You will get a 30 day under consideration stamp and then go back on that date (it won't be a weekend) and get the rest of the year extension inked in.

Okay, at Chaengwattana you can go apply for a yearly extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp (so that means YOU could apply anytime AFTER Sept 2 :O today actually ;) )

As long as you meet the financial requirements (400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply) you can go and apply any time from 45 days before down until the very last day (Oct 17th)

We don't recommend waiting until the last day because if you don't have all the documents you need etc and it's the last day you will end up on overstay until you get it sorted out.

cheers Tod . That’s great . I didn’t realise you could go up to 45 days before . I was obviously thinking about the potential busy periods to avoid .
