Hi, I thought I would write about our experience at Ho Chi Min Thai Consulate. We arrived with all our paperwork for a 60 day visa, although we only had one flight ticket with both names on (mr/mrs). Friendly enough we felt and they sent us away to get another copy for the 2nd applicant. Although they gave us directions for a photocopy shop, it took 25 mins to walk there and back in searing heat. If you are applying as a couple, make sure you have copies of everything for each of you.
We handed everything in, paid our $80 and told to come back the following day. Off we went to the airport to catch our domestic Jetstar flight only to be told that dispite what their website says and what we were told by Jetstar, we could only fly with our passports. Taxi back, 1 hr wait over lunch and when we got to the counter, we explained the situation. We had a choice, wait until the next day or lose our $80. We decided to cancel the application because of flights and hotel paid but could not believe it when he reached down into his tray, pulled out our passports and stamped 'void' on our visa that had already been processed! When I asked why would he cancel them if they had already been done, he said if we wanted to keep them, come back tomorrow, end of story.
Apart from the lost $80, it cost us a further $50 for taxi's and flight changes (as we never got back in time for our flight). We also have to book another flight as our next trip was booked for 90 days later from Thailand. Thanks for your understanding guys!
Went to Brisbane Consulate earlier this year, put our 60 day applications in and told to collect them that same afternoon!
