Hello. Im trying to get travel insurance, I'm already in Thailand and my current insurance expires end of the month. I'm struggling to find a company the will cover me seeing as I'm already overseas and it's covid season. The UK advises against all but essential travel, which will make most insurances void 🤔 anyone else had this problem? Is there anywhere out there that will insure you?
I'm trying to get cover for me and my 5 year old boy. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat in Thailand is seeking travel insurance as their current policy is about to expire, facing challenges due to COVID-19 and UK travel advisories. Several commenters have provided recommendations for insurance providers that may cover individuals already traveling, such as Pacific Cross, Big Cat Insurance, Cigna International, and Regency for Expats, as well as advice on extending coverage from existing UK insurers. Some commenters have noted that certain insurers have specific terms regarding government travel advisories.

Heymondo will cover for COVID and if you’ve already started your trip
We signed for up ‘Regency for Expats’ after Covid happened and we wanted to stay in Thailand. Covered everywhere but our home country. Message me if you want contact info.
I had it for over a year. Agents say most large Hospitals in Bangkok take it.
It is good worldwide except USA. And Covers Covid. They issue a form verifying this but I had to ask my Agent fot it.
But I am in Cambodia now and when I pressed him I got the impression they have had issues with the smaller hospitals in Phnom Penh. He recommended the largest hospitals. Especially International hospitals.
I am sure the smaller hospitals would take it but they are going to pressure you for self-pay. Probably the same with most Insurance Companies.
Never had to use it. So I cannot vouch for how seamless it is. Have not heard anything good or bad about them online. Except their own advertising.
One thing and they state this in their advertising. They will not/never cover a pre-existing condition. They are up-front about that.

I'm from the UK and have health insurance through Cigna International. SafetyWing also provides travel insurance (although they will want to ship you back to the UK asap in case of medical emergencies, same as World Nomads). Both can be started when abroad.
