This may help anyone with special charcaters in their name!💥💥

My husband who is a German national spells his name with an Ö. His passport says that spelling in the name secrion but In the machine readable part of passport it says the International speling with OE. We used BOECKEL In our application.

His DTV was rejected recently because they only considered the name on the name section and not in the bottom of passport.

We have to re-submit a new application with a certificate certifying that both names are same. Even though they are on the currentnt passportrt.

Has anyone else experienced such an issue?⁉️⁉️

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses challenges faced by an individual with a spouse whose name contains special characters (Ö in BOECKEL), leading to a visa application rejection due to inconsistency between the name on the passport and its international spelling. It highlights the importance of ensuring that the name entered on visa applications matches the machine-readable section at the bottom of the passport, as issues can arise otherwise. Other commenters share similar experiences, indicating that name discrepancies can cause complications during the visa application process.

you must write the name manually before uploading the scan of the passport page. And this name must be identical with the "international format" that is at the bottom of the detail page! It you had checked the bottom of the passport detail page, you would have discovered that his family name is written as BOECKEL - and this is the column the E-visa application system will cross-check . . . you must write the name as is displayed in the red box

Not quite the same but I had a visa application rejected (though otherwise flawless and 100% in compliance).

My name. In the application I provided my first and last name. My passport says my first middle last name. It did not state ‘name as it appears on your passport’.

So I had to pay again providing my middle name changing nothing else. 🙄
