Good morning everyone. Hope your day is starting out well. I have a question. I did a border crossing for my last tourist visa. I also entered Thailand using a tourist visa at immigration at BKK when I arrived in Thailand in January. Now I have a mix of tourist and medical stamps in my Passport. The previous stamp was for medical before my stamp on June 11. My question is this. Since I may have 2 or 3 tourist stamps, but not in a row, does this mean I am out of tourist stamps available for this year and I now have to get a different stamp from immigration? If I have to, I can fly out of Thailand and get a tourist stamp this way. Thank you in advance for any assistance. I will be out of the country July 25-July 29 in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I was thinking of doing a 6 month visa from there.

Okay, you have used all your 30 day visa exempt entries by land this year so until Jan 1 2019 you can't just go to the border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in and out of another country and stamp back into thailand for a 30 day visa exempt entry.

You can fly out and back in to get a 30 day visa exempt entry which you could extend for 30 days at the immigration office for 1900baht.

OR

you can go to a thai consulate in another country and get a single entry tourist visa which wold stamp you in for 60 days when you enter the country and which you could extend for 30 more days for 1900baht too.

Good Luck, I'd say because you have no real tourist visas, that while you're in Siem Reap go to one of those agents that take your passport to the thai consulate in Phnom Penh and get a single entry tourist visa. Then once you come in you'll get stamped in for 60 days and you can extend that by 30 more.

Thanks Tod. That is all I need to know. You can close thread now. Thank you again for all your help. I do plan to get a retirment visa, which is my ultimate goal. However, I would like to wait until Jan 2019 to get the money distribution for a thai bank accout. This is a tax thing. I don't want to pull that much money out this year for the tax implications unless I have to . If I have to, I will just have to eat the extra tax. Thanks again.

Unless you are Cambodian or legally hold residence in Cambodia you're not gonna get a 6 month METV <- multi-entry tourist visa for thailand from the thai consulate in Phnom Penh. All the thai consulates in S/E Asia require you to hold legal residence in the country which you're applying for the visa in.

Let's make this easy for you

IF you entered thailand without having BOUGHT a visa from a thai consulate and were stamped in for 30 days you entered on a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp. You can get TWO 30 day visa exempt entry stamps by land in a calendar year, and there is no limit to them when entering by air. There is also no limit to the number of tourist visas you can by from a thai consulate.

So tell us:

how many 30 day visa exempt entries by air you have had

how many single entry tourist visas from a thai consulate you have had

2 visa exempt entries by land. 1 visa exempt entry when i entered Thailand by air. No single entry tourist visa from thai consulate. 2 entries based on my medical condition with letter from doctor stating I could not fly and she wanted me to have 90 day visa. When I went to immigration the first time, they only gave me 30 days. When International ladies at Wattana hospital got visa for me I received the other 60 days. Go figure. Do you need any other information?

Seeing as you can't BUY a tourist visa at the border but only at a thai consulate; What do you mean by doing a border crossing for a tourist visa?

Jackie Blue, so you have NO tourist visas from a thai consulate and have been here on a combination of visa exempt entries by land and air along with two extensions of stays based on medical needs.

I was assuming that's what I got when I went to Laos and came right back to Thailand. I really cannot tell what visa\stamp I received. All I know is it's good until July 10. OK?
