I was filling out the Thai online visa application and there was no way to upload my passport picture on the site. I’m kinda stuck so I believe I need to hire someone ( lawyer) to do it all for me including the bank deposit. I’m a retiree planning to stay in Thailand. Any advice?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is having trouble uploading their passport photo while filling out the Thai online visa application and is considering hiring a lawyer for assistance. Comments suggest various solutions, including using a laptop instead of a mobile device, ensuring the photo is in JPEG format and correctly sized, and taking a passport style photo against a white background. Some users recommend getting help from someone with technical skills or consider using a photo compression app to resolve file size issues. Ultimately, patience and perseverance are emphasized as key to completing the application successfully.

I have a similar problem with Vietnam after I had the same problem with Thailand. The solution for Vietnam was to get a file size reducing application by searching "photo compressor" in the Android app store. The picture I took was against a white background and the photo compressor made an extra copy of the "passport picture" which I uploaded to the visa website.

Use an iPad. Take photo and upload as it configures the data size correctly

What is the problem your having to upload the photo?? It's best to do it on a laptop if possible, just take a selfie "passport style" photo with your phone against a white background, upload any photos to the laptop, then just drag and drop the jpeg photo into the box, check the photos are not too big, or they just bounce back out, if the photo is too big, you need to crop it in a photo editor.
I have struggled a bit myself in the past with the Thai e-visa website, it's not the best, I've learnt a few tricks now tho, a relative of mine said he was having problems uploading photos to the E-visa site with his iPhone, he said he thought it would be easier because all the jpeg photos of the required documents was on his phone, but he said he couldn't achieve it, I suggested uploading the jpeg photos to his laptop, and try that, he contacted me the day after to say all done, his visa got approved at the London embassy in a few days 😅

Not sure about where you are, but here if I want to use a real computer I get everything ready prior and go to my local library.

Consider the actual file size, thai web sites dont like large files

If you are trying from the US website , I also encountered the same problem , would not allow it regardless of which type of picture file it was........even had a computer tech friend try for me
Even called the office to get advice and let them know 🤣🤣🤣🤣 there answer was thank you , can you try again and again and again ETC.......... Never worked , ended up doing when I got to Thailand
Much easier if you value your time at all

That's why I rather just pay an agency.

It's a very clunky system.
Use a laptop and get someone you trust, who has some IT skills to help you. You just need a bit of perseverance not a lawyer. Good luck.

The iPhone doesn't take photos unless yout turn off the live view thing in the camera settings. You will also have to set compatable photos so you get jpeg, not hvec

You can ask a good student for help.

It needs to be JPEG not PNG file

You take a passport size picture and scan it as a jpeg. It does not have to be your passport picture in your passport.

Few have scanners, everybody has a smartphone.
