I think I've got the hang of this now. We have entered Thailand on 01.11.23 on an METV. We extended once yesterday,at Bluport, which means we need to leave the kingdom by the 30.01.24. Can anyone advise the simplest way to just do a border bounce from HuaHin? Thank you. My husband and I have different opinions about this right now. Thank you.

But is it possible to stay for a couple of days in Myanmar or not? When I've looked online at the evisa application,it would suggest that that is a possibility. But it would appear that you also need to purchase insurance along with the visa application. Has anyone done this recently, independently or is it better to use a visa company ? We would prefer to try ourselves ( don't fancy being stuck in a minivan for the whole day!). Thank you again for taking the time to read this.

The shortest and quickest: there are "visa run" companies in Hua Hin which will offer a minivan trip to RANONG and back, on the same day. You can border bounce to Myanmar with a longtail boat, pay the 500.- Baht fee in Myanmar and come straight back . . . .Keep in mind, Ranong to Myanmar is the ONLY Myanmar border that is still open for foreigners. Ban Phu Nam Ron which would be closer to Hua Hin ist closed.

All you have to do is call or go to ummigration office and yell profanities at the youngest person there, preferably a female. If you can get her to sob they will stamp you for 10 years. Works everytine. Make sure you have UK flag drapped over your shoulders.

I've read several options here. What I'm missing is that -especially considering you already extended your METV- there is a fair chance that upon return to Thailand the immigration officer will say you're not a tourist and deny you access.

 when using METV for long stay (like using max days, extending) you risk immigration officer will conclude using it to live the country. Hence you're using the wrong visa and denied access. For some it still works, but rules have become more strict over past few years and risks are up. Lot's of stories of people having trouble if you search for it.

 TiT. Let's agree disagree Steve 🙂 Reason isI know several folks 1st hand being denied access upon their 2nd! entry using METV after staying the full 60days. Immigration argued they're using it to live in Thailand. You claim tourism? Then provide proof of moving across the country every couple days, excursions etc). Long term stay on METV etc will work for some but the old days are gone.

 Never heard that with an METV, I mean that's the whole point of the visa, that you can enter Thailand multiple times! I think you're confusing this visa with SETV's and visa exempt entries

 no worries mate, agree that when using the METV to stay for a short while, leave (ie neighboring country) and enter again for purpose of multiple short stays you're using the METV as intended.

However, when using it to 'get up to 9 months in Thailand' you're no longer a tourist (not my words) hence and not using METV as intended.

 nonsense, they do think it's acceptable to be a tourist WITH A VISA for 8 to 9 months, or they wouldn't give it to you in the first place, your thinking about all the people that are being denied entry trying to live in Thailand, on free 30 day visa exempt stamps. I'm in Thailand now on an METV, and have been for months, bouncing in and out of Thailand and doing extensions nobody has said anything.

And to be clear it won't bother me at all if someone risks getting denied access at the border. There's stories of people getting in successfully. And those getting denied for reasons mentioned. Some awareness of that seems fair mate.

 I have only extended once. For an extra 30 days. When I depart the kingdom at the end of January, border to be decided, a further 60 days will be added. That's how the METV works.

 sometimes I don't know if people are just clueless! or they are trolling, I'm currently on an METV, and you can leave Thailand and return as many times as you want to, that's by land or air, and you can extend each stamp in your passport by 30 days only once, that's over the period of time the visa is valid for, it is valid for six months from the date of issue.

 they are on an METV, you get stamped in for 60 days not 90, they can extend each stamp once, and stay 90 days at a time.

 yes absolutely and totally agree with you. She talked about 3 months which is TOTALLY wrong its 60 PLUS extension of 30 days does ADD UP TO 90 DAYS.

You could take the sleeper Train south entering Malaysia at Padang Besar. No visa to pay for entry to Malaysia. Cross the border on the train. Hua Hin - Hat Yai - Padang Besar.

Given the central location of Hua Hin, probably the simplest would be going to Bangkok and flying to a neighboring country and returning. Bonus points if they don't require your nationality to purchase a visa on arrival.

If you purely want to border bounce, find the cheapest flight to somewhere like Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. Leave and return same day.

It might be worth it to make a mini vacation out of it though and spend a weekend seeing somewhere new before flying back.
