What is the process for obtaining a retirement visa extension based on monthly income in Thailand?

Yesterday I got a new 12 month extension based on being over 50 at Nakhon Phanom immigration office. Firstly what a great new building they have moved into. Much bigger and with many more counters. It was not busy as I had expected on Monday morning. I had made an appointment on line.

I was changing from banked money to monthly payments of 65000 baht or more. My Bangkok bank book clearly showed 12 monthly ftt payments. I also had to provide bank statements for the 12 months and those downloaded from the app and printed by me were accepted. My bank book showed a transaction on the day but my statements were two days out of date which was not a problem. I was also asked for proof of where the monthly payments had come from and I was surprised by this. However, I provided my UK bank statements and highlighted the transfers. It took quite a long time for the officers to check the outgoing and incoming payments matched up. I was asked to provide copies of the relevant house books but was told the signatures must not be copies. Luckily I had the originals with me.

I thought that this information would be helpful to those planning to make the same change to their funding for the "retirement Visa".

A letter from the bank was mentioned but I did not have to provide one. In fact, I needed nothing from the bank on the day except the updated bank book. Not the same as for using banked 800000 baht. I bekeive that the Officers had little experience of the monthly payment method but were very helpful.

This post is proof you actually can do it yourself if you follow what the immagration office in your area wants. It's not that difficult if you are patient. How much was saved by not using an agent just because you can't be bothered understanding this process.

I have done it twice before using banked money but changing to monthly payments was something new but, as you say, not difficult at all.

Thank you for the update

REMEMBER PEOPLE this is ONLY for the Nakhon Phanom immigration office

Your office may do things different, always check with your office well before you switch proof of funds on extensions to make sure you can do it correctly (y)

Congrats on your extension, well done ๐Ÿ™‚
