I need to get a visa extension quite soon. Just wondering if there is a new protocol due to the virus or do we still just go to the immigration department?
Any help would be appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquires about the process for obtaining a visa extension amid potential changes due to COVID-19. Community members suggest checking the Thai immigration website for updates and clarify whether the extension needed is normal or part of an emergency protocol. One experience shared indicates that normal extensions are still being processed, while another suggests confirming with immigration officers regarding the automatic visa extension that was announced.

Yesterday I got the normal one year extension on my retirement visa at Sri Racha immigration - nothing has changed. This doesn’t mean that things won’t change if the situation worsens, so my advice is to get it done as soon as you can.

ORIGINAL POSTER
Back from immigration went to one immigration office and got told to go to another one (can’t remember names) queue was insane and extremely hot because you have to wait in a parking lot. The entire process took just over 7 hours.
Thanks for all your help everyone. 😊😀

I had with me old photos made outside of the past year and wanted the dark-background one that was very old to be *productive*.
The friendly, helpful female IOs sitting at the outside desk rejected the very old one, I believe, solely for its dark background (?I had no idea it had to be white?) ... and not for its age (LOL!).
I took several passport photos with me just in case ... and needed to glue only 1 on my TM7 form. Keep in mind that photos with a non-white background could be rejected, as was my first one.
Make sure that both front and back of the TM6 form are copied, and they can appear on a single page.
Sign every photocopy. (I had three in all. Songkhla IB charged me 2 Baht per sheet.)
