What are the rules for changing from a 1-Year Marriage Extension (O) to a 1-Year Extension (O) in Thailand?

A friend had to change from 1 year m/e O by marriage to 1 year O

extension by 50+ (not for us to reason why). 

His O is still valid but has been on amnesty since early April due to border closures after his last border bounce.

IO said no problem in changing (financials permitting) but the 1 year commences from the expiry date on his last border bounce. The 60 day extension used covering Apr-June doesn't count , neither does the application date or the amnesty/grace period. So in his case he only received just over 7 months.

the discrepancy is because he changed from one type of extension to another. I have seen this happen several times.

If your friend applied after 1 Aug, this amnesty rules should also apply to him and his new Extension of Stay should have started on 27 Sep 2020,

That's what he thought but was told otherwise by two different Immigration offices. Maybe the switch from one qualification (marriage to 50+ ??) to another created the problem. It was this week.
