Hi everyone, I want to ask if anyone had any trouble extending their STV with the insurance policy that they had to enter Thailand? Our immigration office are saying we also have to buy a Thai company insurance (on top of the worldwide cover we already have) in order to get an extension. Any help appreciated 🙏

We didn’t need additional Thai insurance when we did our STV renewal, but that was in June in Chiang Mai 🤷🏻‍♀️

Different immigration offices have different rules. Both Bangkok and Nonthaburi require the health insurance. See below for an e-mail from Bangkok Immigration.

AFAIK they're the same requirements you showed to buy the visa and to enter the country. You just have to prove that you're covered at the required amounts for another 90 days.

Dunno how far you're gonna "push that rope" with those people at the Trat Immigration office. They are not known to be the easiest to deal with.

There is no requirement that you carry a thai company insurance as long as you hit the 100K USD covid specific and the 40k/400K out/in-patient health insurance coverage.

You might think about going to another province, checking into a hotel and getting your extension there instead. 😮 I know harsh but possibly easier.

just to avoid confusion, the requirements for the STV insurance would be the 3.5M or 100K usd in addition to the

we have cover up to 250k USD which includes covid cover. The immigration office are trying to get us to pay for another Thai insurance. Do we need to buy this or are we getting ripped off?

you must have a policy which meets the DUAL insurance requirements of the STV visa. And were to show proof of it for the entire time you will stay in Thailand which is a max of 270 days or 9 months

GGibsonn RRachell. It is open, but you won't have time to get the TM30 registered. Most hotels only enter at the end of the day, and it may take overnight for the immigration system to update

GGibsonn RRachell. The TM30 registers your current address. You are compelled to use the immigration office that represents your address. That's why

suggested you go check in at a hotel in another province, so that your registered address then becomes the hotel

we actually have MORE than the cover required, the same insurance we were granted the COE and STV with. At Trat immigration they are trying to make us buy another insurance cover from a Thai company. We are struggling to explain to them that this isn't correct.
