I was looking at insurance requirements and it appears at least one insurer, Luma Thailand is requiring medical testing for those 65+. That’s me. I’m planning on moving back permanently to CM at the end of November. Can someone clarify insurance requirements? Am I going to need prove I’ve no criminal record and a medical certificate to get into the country?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The insurance requirements for expats over 65 moving to Thailand depend on the type of visa selected. If you opt for an elite visa or a Non-Immigrant O visa based on retirement, specific insurance or criminal record checks may not be necessary. However, the Non-Immigrant OA visa, which is applied for outside of Thailand, does require both medical testing and proof of a clean criminal record. For insurance, it's suggested to find alternatives that may not require extensive medical testing, so consulting with a local insurance expert could be beneficial.

Criminals are welcome in Thailand but you need to choose the correct visa.

If you get the O based on retirement IN Thailand there is currently no insurance or criminal record check required. It is the OA applied for outside the country that requires this.

is the O visas requirements similar to the OA in terms of financial (800k). I wonder how long before they close this loophole to so they can enforce health insurance on O visa holders too
