What are the implications of leaving a non-immigrant B visa uncanceled when relocating from Thailand to Spain?

hi team,

I have some doubts regarding 'cancellation' of both my non-immigrant B visa and work permit (valid until MARCH 2023). 

I am to relocate and work remotely (as Thailand employee) for some months in Spain - before then signing an employment contract in Spain, and terminating my employment contract in Thailand. 

My understanding is once I terminate my Thailand contract, my Work Permit can be cancelled online. Then my non-imigrant B visa becomes 'invalid', but cannot be cancelled online/remotely. 

Questions : Can I just leave the non-imm B visa 'uncancelled' in my passport ? Any risk in doing so ?

What happens if I travel to Thailand (pre-MARCH23 and post MARCH23)  ?

I don’t understand how leaving Thailand without canceling your extension of stay can harm you. You can’t be on overstay if you are not in the country. It would effectively be cancelled when you leave.

The work permit needs to be cancelled though. I did this a long time ago and they punched three holes in it.

, It's not an actual "overstay". But the Thai immigration would treat it same as overstaying if you don't cancel some extensions for specific reasons such as employment, studying, etc.

If you didn't cancel those extensions, not only you may be fined for overstaying, but also you may not be able to apply for another long-term extension in your future.

Sadly, it doesn't matter if that makes sense or no sense to foreigners. It is how Thai IOs handle those extensions.

Just tell the HR to read the STM2 Form, which you had to sign to get this Extension of Stay again.
