Is there a long-term visa option for foreigners married to Thai nationals similar to the Non O-A visa?

As in the case of a non O-A based on being over 50, wherein you get 2yrs, is there a non O-A for being married to a Thai National? I currently hold a 1 Yr multi entry non o based on marriage and am looking at various options before renewing. Thanks in advance for your valuable help

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the options available for foreigners married to Thai nationals regarding long-term visas. Currently, there isn't a two-year Non O-A visa for those married to Thai citizens; the typical route is a one-year multi-entry Non Immigrant O visa. This visa allows for 90-day increments of stay, with the option to bounce out of the country every 90 days or apply for a yearly extension based on marriage at an immigration office.

I will admit it is a PILE 'O Paperwork (photos, maps, documents, etc) to get a yearly extension based on marriage at the immigration office AND your application would go under consideration for 30 days before you'd go back and get the year extension inked into your passport.

If you don't have a problem getting a year-long multi-entry Non-O and bouncing out and back in every 90 days, keep on doing it. It's FAR easier to do that right now than push thru a yearly extension based on marriage (especially as Savannakhet and HCMC issue that visa without ANY proof of funds and just minimal documentation). There are two options available for stays based on marriage to a thai

You get a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O visa (not there is NO A after that O) from a thai consulate which will get you stamped in for 90 days when you enter, when that runs out you go to the border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country, then stamp back into thailand to get a new 90 day stamp. <- You do that for the whole year the visa is valid for and you can get almost 15 months of stay on it (in 90 day increments)

OR you get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa (either from a thai consulate or inside the country from the immigration office) and then you apply for a yearly extension of stay at the immigration office by meeting the financial requirements and providing the required documentation.

, thanks for your help. It is easier for me to get a non o from Savannakhet or hcmc. I've been to immigration 3 times already, to get a list of docs required for the extension of stay. I was given, on The three occasions, a printed out in Thai! My wife does speak English, but sometimes it is difficult for her to explain correctly. So, I'm presume that I would be coming and going to immigration a couple of times before they accept my application for the extension of stay. Much easier to get another 1yr me non o from Laos or HCMC

If you hold a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage you must bounce out and back into the country every 90 days right?

. I didn't state clearly. My question is, is there a similar visa for being married to a Thai.. Which you get a 1yr, then can extend to another year?

@Mark *****
Correct there is NO such thin based on married to a thai as the year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O-A visa based on being over 50.

David Broadfoot You can get the 1 year Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage with a Thai National at Savannakhet in Laos or HCMC in Vietnam without any financial requirements. No need to travel all the way back to your home country.

David. Yes, I have a 1yr ME non o based on marriage at the moment, which will soon Expire. I'm checking which would be the best option for my next one. The extension of stay seems a bit complicated. Another 1 Yr ME non o based on marriage seems to be easier. Thanks all for your help

@Rob***
. So there is no such thing as a non oa based on marriage, as is the non oa based on being 50?
Robert *******
Yes, the Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage with a Thai National. If you enter Thailand you get 90 days of stay and 30 days before the last day you visit the Immigration Office and apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on marriage. You have to meet all their requirements to get it.
Robert *******
There is no 2 years visa. The Non Immigrant O-A visa is valid for a year and gives you one year of stay at each entry. If you enter just before of the Enter Before or Valid Until date you still get a 1 year of Admitted to Stay.
