I am going back to Immigration on later this month to get my 1 year extension of stay.  

So I am in the "Under Consideration" stage of it all.

But before this I have been requested to be a travel-buddy for someone who has never flown before before I get my stamp. 

It would be a 1-2 day thing and I would be back in good time before I am supposed to go to Immigration to get my finalized stamp. 

Would this be a problem?

You need to get a re-entry permit before you leave, either from your immigration office or from the airport after you go through security. If you leave without this, everything you have done so far will be cancelled and you would return without anything and have to start over completely.
