TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to do a visa run from Koh Samui using your own car. The recommended itinerary is to drive to Ranong, as it is enjoyable and scenic. Once at Ranong, you can take a boat across to Myanmar for your visa run. The boat fare is approximately 500 baht, and you will need to pay around $10 for the Burmese entry stamp. It's also suggested to stay overnight in Ranong before returning to Koh Samui.
