I visited Khon Kaen Immigration today to apply for my first one year extension on my Non-O (Marriage) visa. My current visa was due to expire on the 7th Feb, however I've been told to go back on the 9th March, (as seen in the photo). No problem with doing that, just found it a bit strange though, as in effect I won't actually have a visa for over a month. I'm assuming this is normal?

It's a tedious process to apply for the non-O visa pay the 2000baht wait the under review period, go back get the Non-O and 90 day stamp inked in, wait 2 months, go back apply for the year extension pay the 1900baht, get the 30 day under consideration stamp, wait for that time to wind down and then finally go get the year extension inked in

BUT you're just at the last step, sit tight, wait it out and on the 7th go back to get your extension inked in..

don't forget after you get that year inked in IF you're going to leave anytime this coming year you need to buy a re-entry permit (single 1000baht or multiple 3800baht)

Totally normal you get a 30 day under consideration stamp when you apply for a year long marriage extension..

you can also see that the stamp at the TOP of the page is the initial 90 day Non-O visa he had issued from the Khon Kaen immigration office (it also says "ภรรยาไทย" thai wife 🙂 and you can just barely see on the left page (which is cut off) the Non-O visa stamp they put in his passport which started the whole process.
