Does anyone have recent experience renewing their USA passport from within Thailand? If so, how long does it take lately? 🙏

Do they send your old passport back to you as well, so you can transfer your long stay stamps?

yes and they will send a letter, since you should have an active and current visa. The letter asks the immigration department to please transfer to the new passport.

I did all mine through the US embassy in Bangkok by mail. They have a complete list of required actions and procedures. Since you are sending your original passport to the embassy by mail make sure you make copies of your passport.

From what I’m seeing it’s taking on average 3 weeks sometimes longer…but you do get the new Passport with the Plastic page
