Hi I am currently in Bangkok on a 30 day visa exempt from Ireland I'm due to fly 

Home on the 16th February but I want to extend my visa by 30 days I have never tried to extend before but people keep telling me to go to Chang wattana and Muang thong thani so I'm confused so can anybody give me the correct information on exactly where to go thank you

You are going to go to Muang Thong Thani temporary office, NOT Chaengwattana, if your current address is in Bangkok.

It is a very straightforward process. They have a checklist. Tick all the boxes with your documents, etc. and you will be fine.

Actually the departure card is the one kept with the passport. The arrival card was kept by immigration when they got stamped in. I know it is a minor point but it might confuse someone but it does say "DEPARTURE CARD" on it. So they need a photocopy of the departure card (some IOs want both sides even though almost nothing on the back side) not the arrival card which they do not have.

Because people enter on a Tourist visa (Which people paid and got at Thai Embassy/consulate BEFORE you flew in) have to go to CW.

But people who entered Thailand on a visa-exempt scheme (like you) are handled at MTT.

People don't care on what you were stamped in, only talking by their own experiences.
