Ok I am happy about the 45 days on arrival- quick question I plan to extend for 30 more days after the 45 days are up. 

Upon arrival at BKK Will immigration see that your trip is beyond the initial 45 day visa & understand that you intend to extend- do they care?

Or will they question why you don’t have a ticket out when your 45 days are up?

You can always book a cheap flight from Thailand to somewhere like Vietnam within 30 days to save you worrying. That's what I did and it cost about £20. I never used the flight.

IF you manage to board your flight to come here with onward travel after the number of days you'll get stamped in for you will have no problem at passport control stamping in

Keep in mind it's the air carrier that has the proof of onward travel within the number of days you'll get stamped in for if you fly here visa exempt (no valid visa in your passport) AND

that most airlines do not know that the visa exempt entry went from 30 days to 45 days

So contact your air carrier and see what their policy is
