It is the law that you have a onward ticket within the period of your first visa ..I have seen people denied .

I have friends that have had to scramble to buy a ticket before they would allow boarding .

I always do it because ...I want on that plane badly and it's worth the extra fee dollars to me .

The fake ones are fraud and I would never break a Thai law !

Consequences can be brutal

for long term visas proof of onward travel is not required. This was explained to me by Thai immigration. Visa exempt or tourist visas it is required. this is the law.

no law states you must have an onward ticket - please point this out to me. A simple bus ticket to Malaysia will suffice and costs around 15 US $. It’s logical to have an onward ticket but it’s not the law unless I’ve missed something ?

Purchase a refundable ticket to anywhere. Once you are in the country you can cancel it and get your money back

you never really know .

It's always ,in every country ,up to the individual immigration officer ...contact you nearest Thai embassy by email and ask for correct info .

That way you have it in writing

Eva air out of London would not let check in because my return ticket was outside of the legal stay irrespective of of any extension,had to buy a cheap ticket to Han noi

many airlines don't accept bus tickets as onward travel proof because the right hand steering Thai bus doesn't even cross the land borders into left hand steering neighbour countries 😉

sorry for not clarifying.. The embassy asked me. Immigration asked for nothing but I guess they can check any time if you you still have enough money and so on. Sounds bad but if your are not from a good country you better get an onward ticket

Not as far as I know. Immigration rarely ask for onward travel unless they're looking to refuse you entry. With the DTV this shouldn't be a problem

I have not had any problems with immigration and one way tickets with a DTV. It is the airline who asks about the one way. Once they see the visa and make a note of it, they are ok.

You tell them you have a 5 year visa and show them the DTV and they are fine. Long term visas can enter on one ways.
