Can I switch to my British passport while applying for an extension based on marriage in Thailand?

Hi,

I am approaching the end of my second extension of stay based on marriage. I am stamped until June 9th and will apply for my third extension of stay early next week.

I have been using my Irish passport for all my stays in Thailand over the last few years. However, I am approaching the end of my passport now. I have three empty visa pages. Two at the front and one at the back. None of the pages are adjacent.

Due to having dual nationality, I also possess a completely blank British passport.

My question is about whether I can somehow switch over to my British passport and at what point in the process it may be possible.

To complicate things I need to travel to France for a wedding in mid-July.

If it's impossible to do this, then I suppose I need to start thinking about renewing my Irish passport and how that may affect my trip to France.

I'm really not sure of the simplest way to move forward and I am open to all suggestions. Thank you very much in advance.

How many extension based on mariage can you actually get? I thought only one!

, There is no limit to 1 year application for an extension based on being married to a Thai national. As long as you are meeting the requirements, you can apply for a new one every year.

You may be confusing this 1 year extension with 60days visiting Thai family extension which is approved for one time only for an entry (including during on 1 year extension continuously after the first visa)

Do you have all marriage-related documents with you as a British national?

You cannot change your nationality inside the country. More precisely, you cannot change your nationality that is tied to your extension. You can fly out with an Ireland passport, and enter and exit France with your British passport with no problem. And entering Thailand on your Ireland passport is no problem but you will be just a tourist. The current extension is approved to Mark Taylor of Ireland, not Mark Taylor of England.

If you want to be on your British passport, you have to do all the processes over again from the new Non-O VISA based on marriage with your British passport.
