Converting from 65k baht/mo method to 800k baht on deposit method for retirement visa. 

I used the 65k/mo method for the first two years. I plan to switch to the 800k deposit method for my visa extension this December. In theory, nobody should care if I abandon the 65k/mo method for a few months right? I just need to have the 800k on deposit at least 3 months prior to my December extension? To be safe that means by September 1 to me.

using the banked money method your 800K baht needs to be in your account 2 months before you apply for the next extension (not 3 months, the rules changed in 2019)

The operative wording in your question is "in theory" is the part ONLY immigrations will know.

My 2 satang's worth, you're correct you COULD abandon the 65K baht a month incoming transfers (seeing as you're not using that for the next extension you are applying for)

and

you wouldn't jeopardize the extension you're on now because you showed 12 months transfers when you got that extension

BUT

Will immigrations see it that way? dunno.

Before you stop bringing in the 65K baht a month I'd sure go and ask them AND make a note (or take a photo 😉 ) of the person who answered you

why not derisk it and continue to send the 65k a month and put it towards the 800k? The 800k has to stay in your account for 3 months after acquiring the extension so your going to need a bit extra anyway (and can't drop below 400k at any point)
