My husband and I are on Non B and Non O visas, which are due for renewal for next month. Our business is currently closed, and will continue to stay closed for at least the rest of this year.
Is it possible to go onto tourist visas instead next month, and then when we are ready to reopen, we then reapply for Non B and Non O again?? There is a reason why we are thinking of doing this instead of just renewing our current visas! Any advice is greatly appreciated. TIA.

what you CAN both do is cancel your current extension of stays (sounds like one is based on employment and the other possibly a "trailing spouse") then immediately apply for a 60 day covid extension.
Keep in mind at this time, 60 day covid extensions can be applied for until March 30th. SO I'd say closer to that date, BUT before your current extensions run out, go to the immigration office, cancel the extensions you're on and get the covid 60 day extension.
