Hi Guys! I'm very excited to be going to Thailand. I leave Jan. 23rd to Chiang Mai and plan to stay in Thailand for the first 3 months if I can before going to Bali or the Philippines. 

I heard the multi entry tourist visa is the way to go. But it says you need to show that you make $7k/m for the last year I believe. I can't show that. But I can show I at least have that much in my bank account. Would I still be able to get it?

Also...be aware...you cannot work in Thailand on a Tourist visa...single or multiple entry.

Not Thai visa related but keep an eye on the news. It looks as if US citizens will require a visa to enter the Phillipines any day now.

If you want to stay 3 months, you should get a Single Entry tourist visa. You'll need to show a bank statement of about $800 USD or thereabouts (depending on the consulate).

A single entry tourist visa allows you stay in Thailand for 60 days, which can be extended by another 30 at the local immigration office for 1,900THB

Look at the Los Angeles Thai Consulate list of requirements for the visa you want. Meet the requirements and get the visa.
