Question:  If I let my non immigrant B visa expire, can I then go to immigration and get some kind of a covid extension? Non immigrant B was issued in BKK and now I’m in Phuket and don’t want to go back into BKK with the covid situation to renew the visa. Thanks for any help. Just grasping at straws here.

had messaged me back on July 26th (which I redacted) they are indeed on an extension of stay NOT a Non-B VISA :( and it was indeed issued from Bangkok.

So that means unless they come back to bangkok to cancel it they aren't gonna be able to get a 60 day covid extension at ANY immigration office.

No office that I know of will do anything covid extension wise on an "open" <-(uncancelled) extension of stay.

Terminology is everything people, READ your stamps, know the difference between a VISA and and extension of stay.

READ the stamp in your passport that you're here on now.

IF it says "extension of stay permitted until" and has a date you are NOT on ANY visa, you are on exactly what it says, an extension

AND

you need to go back to the issuing office to get it cancelled with documentation from the employer that gave you the paperwork to get the extension in the first place.

Once you cancel that extension you can then apply for a 60 day covid extension

BUT

until you do, nope you're stuck and no office other than the issuing one will touch that stamp to cancel it

now on the other hand IF you are still on the original 90 day stamp from a non-B visa (a small rectangular "admitted until" stamp) you can go straight from that to a 60 day covid extension without needing to cancel anything at all.

SO

Again, READ your stamp in your passport and depending on what it says you'll know which path you need to follow.

Unfortunately IF you are on an extension of stay, the fact you don't want to come back to bangkok doesn't factor into it, you either come back and cancel the extension or you go on overstay at 500baht a day :O
