I am coming off 51/5 years of a W-P/Non-Imm (US Pp) which is valid through Oct but will be canceled end of this month. I am heading to Penang for a tourist visa to wait out a in a job prospect delayed by current economic crisis. I had understood that I could apply for a 60 day tourist visa and extend by 30 at CW. Is this correct? I saw another post talking about a 30-day. Also, would it help to bring proof of own insurance, Pragan Sangkhom, DL, fixed and savings accounts, or would this work against me? Thanks

There is no proof of insurance required, You WILL need a medical certificate going to the thai consulate in Penang. You will need proof of funds (20K baht or the equivalent) in a bank account, proof of onward travel (in 60-90 days) AND proof of lodging

You will get a single entry tourist visa, stamped in for 60 days and you can extend that at the immigration office in your area for 1900baht
