Hello all,

I would like to confirm please:

If I enter Thailand in March with a US passport at Bangkok and receive a 30 day stamp (exp in April)

Then extend for an additional 30 days in April in Chiang Mai (exp in May) 

Am I eligible for a 2nd 30 days extension in Chiang Mai in May when the 2nd stamp expires or do I need to leave the country and re-enter?

There's no third time to get a 30 day extension. You MUST LEAVE THAILAND.

Either by a simple LAND BORDER BOUNCE or by Air ✈️, to get a NEW 30 day STAMP as VISA EXEMPT ENTRY.

Which can be extended for 30 ADDED days at your local Thai Immigration office .

You can do a maximum of 2 LAND BORDER BOUNCE entries as Visa Exempt Entry into Thailand EACH CALENDAR YEAR.

, no written rules on that. Theoretically, unlimited. But actually until the officer starts question you about your being genuine tourist.

IF you have not yet done a land border bounce... that's what I suggest you do. It will get you a new 30 day stamp on arrival into Thailand and can be extended for 30 ADDED days at your local Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

Suggest you use an experienced border run service company in PHUKET to take you to the Thai border cross and re-enter the same day and return to Phuket same day.

But if we choose to do exit via air going to Singapore for 2 nights, will there be an issue or is there any documents we should prepare when we came back to HKT?

We think exiting Thailand going to SG as mini travel visit for 2 nights but we are afraid that immigration from HKT will not allow us to re enter.

we are planning to return to our home country before the end of our another 30 day extension via border bounce.

Maybe we will choose the safest way which is border bounce like what you have advised.

if you have tickets for departing Thailand within 30 or even 59 days when you arrive into Phuket airport...you may be allowed entry.

It's your friend who has been in Thailand since the end of 2023 and NOW in 2024 with back to back Visa Exempt Entries and extensions, is the one which has the recent history which may cause questions from Phuket Thai Immigration Officers on arrival by Air ✈️.

Next time when you plan to return to Thailand and wish to stay longer .. I suggest you look at getting the METV multiple entry tourist visa in your home country before you fly to Thailand. With planning it can get you up to 9 months stay in Thailand and SE Asian countries.

have proof of your flight departing Thailand within the 30 days stamp you will get on arrival into Thailand from Singapore, 20,000 Thai baht in CASH or equivalent currency, and your initial week of bookings in the Phuket area. If ASKED by Thai Immigration Officers upon arrival into Phuket. immigration.

Yes we are seeing reports of Phuket Thai Immigration Officers asking questions about back to back entries into Thailand Visa EXEMPT ENTRY.

IF you have tickets for your return to your home country to show Thai Immigration...then try to fly. BUT land border entries are safer.

no you are not.

you get ONE 30 day extension per entry.

You have to exit/re-enter to get a new 30 day entry stamp (which you can extend one time for 30 more days)
