TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, after performing a land border crossing, you will receive a new Visa Exempt Entry stamp for 30 days, which can be extended for an additional 30 days at aThai Immigration office for 1900 Thai Baht. However, as of April 1, 2023, the maximum stay from border crossings has reverted to 30 days, and you can only perform two land border bounces per calendar year.
, then you are fine to enter on visa-exempt and apply for 30 days tourism extension after.
Depends on your history but it's your decision how you want to bounce.
But, if don't have a long history to/in Thailand, especially during Covid, I'd do border-bounce by air first ("keeping" at least one land border entry on visa-exempt as the last resort) but it might be only me.
Im from England. So at the moment i have used my 45 days tourist visa and then i paid for a 30 day extension 1900baht and it runs out on the 10th. Would you suggest it best to do a border run by land or fly out from bkk and back in or does it not matter, sorry for confusion im new to this

Any border bounce whether land or fly gets you 30 days which can be extended a further 30 days

IF you do a BORDER BOUNCE to get a NEW Visa Exempt Entry stamp of 30 days... then you can get one 30 day extension of stay at Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.
You can do a maximum of 2 land border bounce ENTRIES EACH CALENDAR YEAR.
