Really confused here, please help. I was planning to get an ED visa and bring along my wife and child with me. None of the Language Schools i spoke with confirmed that i can bring dependents on ED visa. Anyone have similar experiences? My ultimate goal is to relocate to Thailand.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is seeking clarification on whether dependents can accompany them on an Education (ED) visa to Thailand. Comments highlight that typically, only ED visas from recognized universities permit dependents, while language schools do not support this. Suggestions include considering different visa types, such as a guardian visa for the spouse if the child can obtain an ED visa. Other options discussed involve using a tourist visa for the child, given the lack of penalties for overstaying for minors, and referencing international schools for potential enrollment to facilitate visa options.
Your child can enter as a tourist/exempt and then overstay without penalty. The wife is the issue (they always are). You can leave her behind, or she can get her own visa. Depending on how long she might be able to play the bounce out game.
I guess i need her as well, she have to get her own visa😅

You will need to do a degree/masters/PhD at a university and find a university that will support the applications. Language/Muay thai/Cooking etc schools can not support dependency visas.
They told us that technically we could just allow our children to overstay since there’s no fine you have to pay.. BUT it will be marked in their passports. The best solution that we could come up with was a multiple entry permit & do border runs for the children so that they don’t have an overstay. Our children are old enough to be put in school though so they’ll have their own education visa. I saw that you said your child is only 1. The school we were looking at has a nursery program and our youngest is 2. They told us with putting our youngest in nursery at the school, they can do a visa for him as well. So while a language school can’t do it, you may have options with an international school
Glad to hear this info. I was aiming for my Childs international school admission as well. thank you for sharing this info.

If your child studies in Thailand, he/she can apply ED visa and your wife get a guardian visa as the mother of your child, while you should apply another visa seperately. 1 guardian can be only for 1 child. The school will provide a letter that you need to apply Guardian visa for your wife. Works also if you want to be the guardian and your wife gets another visa.
Thank you, i came across this info as well. but my child is only 1 year old now.

Rain Walker there is no overstay for children under 15years old. So your child can just stay in Thailand. Take the Ed visa first. While thinking of what other visas to apply for. I got the elite for myself and my husband after Ed visa. No issues with both my child leaving and re entering Thailand. They will just give a chop when you leave that stares children below 15 of age overstay is waived.
an ED VISA is only 3 months old,,then it’s up to the discretion of the immigration officer ,,,normally never a problem ,but it does happen that no extensions are giving
I'd advise you to figure it out first. First off, using an ED visa if your purpose isn't really education is fraud. Secondly, because of all the visa fraud, ED visa may prevent you from obtaining other visas.
I see. I am not trying to just get an ED visa. My spouse is trying to get into a Masters program in Thailand, as we have a daughter, i am just trying to figure out the options.
Yes i got the same answers from some language courses.

An education visa from an informal school does not let you bring dependants to Thailand. The only ED visa that might let you do that is one you get from a university when you're in a degree seeking program. Even then you need to get approval from your school also.
