Hi all. I was in and out of Thailand three times - over six months - last year on a METV. I'd now like to visit Bangkok for two weeks in October without applying for a visa beforehand. Will there be any issue entering without a visa as an American after my stay last year? Should I expect to have to show proof of funds, etc., at the airport?

Thanks for the help! I'll follow your advice and have 20K baht with me on entry (along with proof of hotel and onward travel) just to be safe. Glad to hear I don't need to be worry too much though. Cheers!

no big deal - at all - u got 30 days visa excemption... usually no funds are asked ... but if u feel more happy , bring 10k thb in your currency ...

even though the actual rule about proof of funds is 10K baht or the equivalent in cash when entering on a 30 day visa exempt entry or a 15 day visa on arrival the immigration officers are requiring 20K baht. :O

Okay, ANYONE ANYTIME can be asked for the 3-proof-ofz when stamping into the country; proof of 20K baht in cash, proof of onward travel and proof of a hotel booking.

However most of the people who are asked for proof of funds have EXTENSIVE entry histories to thailand by either 30 day visa exempt entries or tourist visas.

IF that's all the history you have as far as entering thailand I highly doubt you will be questioned at all. Face it thousands of people enter the country every week and FEW are questioned about it.

I would say have your proof of onward travel and 20K baht (or the equivalent) in cash just in case you're asked BUT I'm cautious like that and it's better to be prepared than to get asked and NOT have it.
