TLDR : Answer Summary
Korean visitors to Thailand cannot extend their 90-day visa exempt stamp at the Cheng Watana Immigration Office. Instead, they receive a 7-day 'extension denied' stamp, compelling them to leave the country. Alternatives include traveling to a neighboring country and returning for a new 90-day exemption, as extending a visa is not permitted for Koreans under current regulations.
Just pop down to KUL or SIN on a cheap flight. Come back and get another 90-days. 4 times per year and no worry for the first year.
Royal Jordanian has a convenient evening flight (RJ

that leaves here at dinner time (5pm) and back before midnight (arrive BKK at 23:55). Don't even need to enter Malaysia.
Just get off the plane, go to the transit desk to get the boarding pass for the return flight and go back to the gate for the return flight.

I personally have never met a single Korean here on a real single entry tourist visa. :O (and I've met hundreds of koreans at the various thai language schools). They all come in on 90 day visa exempt entries. Some have been here years by flying out and back in every 90 days

Tell your Korean friend read νμ¬λ on Naver. will get more information
Did your friend BUY a single entry tourist visa from a thai consulate BEFORE they came here OR did they just show up and get a 90 day visa exempt stamp for free?

Tod you are 100% right. Need to fly in and out for another 90 days stamp.
I think then we have the answer, the friend of the O/P did NOT enter on a tourist visa but on a 90 day visa exempt entry and they CANNOT get anything but a 7 day get out of thailand stamp.

Well i am not 100%sure. I've just check the website of thai consulates and i think that tourist visa is for foreigner(not Korean) who wants to apply in korea.
I never seen any korean who entered Thailand with tourist visa
And i checked several korean online communities as well. But no info about tourist visa so far.
Koreans are allowed what is called a 90 day exemption, it's not a visa. Before the days are up, you can get a 30 day extension as Robert mentioned. Most of the other countries are only given a 30 day exemption. I should know, I am from the US and my wife is Korean, we got the different treatment.
You can not renew a visa, only apply for a NEW visa or an Extension of Stay. Can you please describe what kind of visa he has, there is no visitor visa as I know of.
