Am I eligible for the DTV if I won't have 3 months of bank statements showing 500k?

I'm a digital nomad that has been traveling on tourist visas and surviving on less than THB 500k for the last few months. At the end of this month, I will receive a "top-up" that puts me over the 500k requirement for the DTV.

Am I not eligible for DTV until I have 3+ months of bank statements showing that amount in my account?

I read some posts in this group where people mention writing a cover letter of sorts to explain your situation. Perhaps that could improve my chances.

Maybe sponsorship is the better approach. I will be applying at the embassy in Hanoi.

Any advice is much appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a digital nomad currently on a tourist visa, inquires about the eligibility for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand, specifically regarding the requirement of having 500k baht in their bank account. They want to know if they need 3+ months of bank statements showing this balance or if having this amount at the time of application suffices. Comments from the community suggest that while some embassies may have varying requirements, many only require the balance to be present at the time of application rather than for the entire duration prior. Additional advice includes checking specific embassy guidelines and possibly including a cover letter to explain their situation.

Laos you need 500K for 3 months. Vast majority of embassies are ok with a final balance of 500K with several months of bank statements.

Hello, I just get approved yesterday in HANOI, it’s ok if you have the 500k only in the last month bank statement. The most important is that you have it right now on the last bank statement 👌🏻, but send them the 6 months anyways, good luck

I only submitted one most current bank statement in Los Angeles. I didn't have an option to attach more documents. I applied through soft power and got approved without being asked for anything additional.

hey quick question; I’m applying at Los Angeles and they say “500k baht or 16,000” I have over 500k baht, but less than 16k 😅 I’ll call and ask later but I’m wondering if you happen to know which one matters more.

I'm not sure but I would have 16k just in case. They're rejecting applications over the smallest details. I wouldn't give them any reason to reject your application.

If your account is in USD it should be 16K, the embassy use their own exchange rate.If it is in THB it should be 500K.

Read the website of the Thai Embassy you will apply at, or search the group for that specifik Embassy.

It waries from 0 - 6 months.

If you make PDF’s containing multiple documents, the make a index on the first page.

The 500.000 Baht requirement is not so much about daily livingcosts, but more in the direction, to be able to immidiately pay a hospital bill etc.

Depends on which embassy, but I personally got a DTV accepted in Cambodia after having that amount in account balance around

weeks prior to my application.

It all depends on the embassy. Vietnam and Cambodia don’t require it as it seems. Use the search function in this group to get more details

I don’t think you need 500k on every statement as long as you have it in the bank at the time of application and entry. The previous months statements are just to give a more detailed picture of your financial stability I believe.

depends on the embassy.

Since the funding is a major requirement why don't you tell us what kind of money you've been playing/surviving with over the last 3 months until you top it up to 500k.

Currently it appears to depend on the embassy you apply at, there’s no consistent application of the rules on this. If you search “Vietnam” posts in the group you may get a better idea of that embassy and the extra documents they may ask for.

Based on my experience You don’t need to have 500k Baht for all the requested statement . You need to have them on the account at the time of application.
