I have heard about this and the answer is no! Maybe I'll consider Cambodia or Laos as a better option! Definitely cheaper and less westernized, plus could still visit Thailand!

Maybe I was lucky, but I did three border runs to Cambodia in just over 8 months in Thailand. Arrived in Thailand on the 2nd June last year, and departed on 11th February this year. Though next time will apply for a retirement visa, being 66 and a pension of over 65,000 baht a month!

No it is permitted 3 times per year. This was confirmed after a telephone call on tvs Pattaya. I've done this in December, October, and August.

I travelled to Cambodia for a visa exemption stamp on the 20th December. When I booked this with TVS in Pattaya, the assistant confirmed after a telephone call, that this process was permitted 3 times in one year. I had done this in October and August. I had arrived in Thailand on the 2nd June and was then granted only 30 days as was the rule then. Attended immigration at the beginning of July in Jomtien, and was given 60 days.

I've completed this trip three times over the last year. Everything went well and was efficient and comfortable. I'm back in the UK now,but only temporarily; will be back to Thailand soon!

I also heard that if one's pensions/ income was at least 65,000 baht per month, and you were over 50,this would also qualify you for a retirement visa. Is this true?

Oh dear Bonnie, resorting to name calling is definitely a sign of losing an argument! ๐Ÿ˜‚. Call me what you like,I don't care, used to be a prison officer! Think about it! You have a point about the ' lose' I accept. But ' folks' no, both folk and folks indicate the plural!

And it is texting, have you witnessed a lot of that,I'm sure you have! Attrocious English a lot of it! But if you feel you have to nitpick,be my guest!

I agree entirely and I've only overstayed once for one day, which was a silly mistake; I paid 500 baht. So straight to prison, obviously not; what hogwash Robert! I'm certainly not giving advice like some knowalls on this cite! Just comments๐Ÿ˜‚,and anyone with a bit of intelligence will realize that! As for being awake Kim, yep alert and sober unlike a lot of farangs in this country! Love your input folk, seems I've rattled a few cages! Love it! Don't loose your sense of humour folk,if you actually have one! ๐Ÿ˜‚ And I'm an ex prison officer of 24 years,in the UK; but always had the keys! Best way!

At last a bit of common sense ! Well said Todd; instead of all this pessimistic paranoia!
