they usually want a letter from your pastor or equivelant, in her case likely a monk but that should be doable. Do some research into what other Buddhists have done for the process. Or if she’s Christian there’s a lot of resources as many have been through the process. She might be becoming a US resident but you don’t want her ending up with US health.
there is a 6 month rule when it comes to being tax resident and that’s what they’re basing the recent crack down on visa runs on, trying to get people to do the DTV or retirement visas instead and do things properly.
It’s Thailand though so of course it’s never across the board, always depends on who you get at the time and can always be gotten around with an ‘agent’ and some money. But nobody should be getting problems if they’re taking multiple short trips, being away in between and not there for more than 6 months over all in a year. It might get more tricky after that and more chance of issues but less than 6 months, nobody’s having problems unless they’re doing something else wrong like overstaying. It’s the back to back border runner they’re trying to stop.
you think it’s bullshit to be able to do multiple trips totaling less than 6 months over a year? On what basis do you give such constructive input. You could do 20 trips a year if they’re all short and nowhere near hitting 6 months of a year which is when they determine you to be tax resident. That’s the basis of their crack down.
So long as you’re there for less than 6 months total in any one year it’s fine, you’re not doing anything wrong. It’s about how long over all you’re there for, not how many times.
What others are referring to is those just doing a border run and trying to live in Thailand full time on renewing 60-90 day visa exempt stays.
you’re as much a Nazi as any Englishman today is a coloniser. Which is absolutaly not at all, obviously! And have you no clue how many countries American invades? Now, in modern times, not distant history. Your high horse is lame.
