Thanks for your comments on this guys. Went up last week with a friend and we both got non-O multi no problem at all. (British and Icelandic passports)The embassy up there couldn’t have been easier or more helpful. However the hoong thip Hotel has gone way down hill since I was last there. My room was missing one window! Would recommend avoiding them if your heading up that way.

After getting married you may need to apply for Going Out with Friends visa. These are available from most Thai wife’s however can be quiet expensive and need to be applied for in advance as thai marriage comes with a non-GOF visa initially. Over time you may even qualify for a multi GOF visa. There are very strict rules on these though regarding over stays and under no circumstance should you enter a foreign port on a GOF visa.
